Field Searching

Field searching on the Internet is searching for pages based on title of the page, domain (EDU, COM, GOV, etc), host (like who is hosting the site--is it a university, a business, etc), URL, or link (as in who's linking to your page?). Other fields one could search would be image, applet, anchor, object, text, language, sound, pictures, and date.

Ok, I feel really dumb right now. I did NOT know the Internet was invented in the United States. I read that earlier and thought, "Really?". I didn't want to write it down (just in case I read it wrong), but here it is again. Learned something new at least.

OOOHHH. It would be neat to see who was linking to your web page. According to the tutorial, you can perform a "link" search by typing "link:www.sc.edu/beaufort/ into the search engine. Of course you would type in the web address in question, not the one listed here. Pretty neat.
